Yesterday (March 11th, 2026), the 𝐁𝐢𝐠 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐆𝐮𝐥𝐟 2 (BBG2) Oil & Gas Lease Sale took place, with 38 bids submitted. The bid resulted in the award of 25 new leases, generating nearly $47 million in winning offers.
In total, 13 companies secured leases, either as operators or partners: 𝗯𝗽, 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝘃𝗿𝗼𝗻, 𝗖𝗟&𝗙 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗲, 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗟.𝗣., 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆, 𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘀 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘂𝗺, 𝗢𝘅𝘆, 𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆, 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗲, 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗹, 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗢𝗶𝗹 & 𝗚𝗮𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆.
Key highlights from BBG2:
• 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗼𝗻 was the most competitive area in the sale, with 8 leases awarded.
• 𝗯𝗽 recorded the largest total investment, with $22.6 million across 3 winning blocks. Most of this amount was for lease GC404, which alone exceeded $21 million.
• 𝗢𝘅𝘆 acquired the largest number of blocks, securing 6 leases with $4.0 million in investment.
• 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆, which recently acquired 𝗟𝗟𝗢𝗚, converted all five of its submitted bids into wins, totaling approximately $3.7 million.
