Last week, on December 13th, Petrobras started drilling the wildcat 1-BRSA-1394-RJS in the Norte de Brava block, being carried out by the Deepwater Aquila rig. The block, located in the Campos basin, was fully acquired by the Brazilian state-owned company in 2022 during the 1st Round of Open Acreage under the Production Sharing regime. Norte de Brava shares structures with both adjacent fields Albacora and Marlim, and therefore is a key asset due to its integrated production potential. In mid-2023, parts of the block became production fields Espadim and Manjuba.

The company is also drilling another pre-salt prospect, Tortuga, located in the Aram block (80% Petrobras, 20% CNPC). Well 4-BRSA-1395-SPS is being drilled by the rig Valaris DS-4 and is the third well drilled since the acquisition of this area in 2019, the other two drilled in 2021 and 2023. Results were good enough to result in a Discovery Assessment Plan (PAD), called Curaรงao, which expires at the end of 2026
