Yesterday, December 10th, ANP announced the inclusion of 7 new blocks in the Open Acreage of Production Sharing, all located in the Santos basin, within the Pre-Salt polygon. The region previously under study north of Bรบzios and Mero, and east of Safira Leste, was divided into three blocks: Calcedรดnia, Quartzo and Opala. Another area, located between important fields like Tupi, Lapa and Bacalhau, was divided into 4 blocks: Aragonita, Cerussita, Malaquita and Rodocrosita.

Two other areas still under study in the Campos basin are also expected to be approved for the next bid cycle: Hematita and Calcita. ANP plans to have the complete list of areas on offer already approved by the end of Q1 2025, with the bid itself scheduled for June 2025.

These new areas join another 17 previously approved blocks for what is shaping up to be the Brazilโ€™s biggest production sharing bid in terms of the amount of offered acreage. Previously approved areas are Amazonita, รgata, Ametista, Citrino, Cruzeiro do Sul, Esmeralda, Granada, Itaimbezinho, Jade, Jaspe, Larimar, Mogno, ร”nix, Rubi, Safira Leste, Safira Oeste, and Turmalina.
