TotalEnergies returns to block C-M-541 (with QatarEnergy and PETRONAS as partners) – acquired in Round 16 (2019) – to finish drilling well 1-TOT-3-RJS (Ubaia-1), started in August 2022. The same block reported HC shows last year when the company drilled 1-TOT-2-RJS (Marolo-1). This drilling license also covers up to three appraisal wells depending on the results.
A little further south, in Block C-M-659 (also acquired in R16), drilling rig Noble Developer has started drilling wildcat well Suçuarana. The area, operated by Shell with Chevron and QatarEnergy as partners, is very close to Jaspe, recently included as a potential Open Acreage block.
Both rigs have been on site for approximately a week, and both wells have water depths of approximately 3,000 meters. Also, nearby is block C-M-539 (BM-C-33), where Equinor recently announced a final investment decision comprising three different pre-salt discoveries.
