With the success of oil and gas exploration in nearby regions such as Guyana and Suriname, the 𝗙𝗼𝘇 𝗱𝗼 𝗔𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻 has become the focus of major investments during Brazil’s 𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 last month. 19 exploration blocks were acquired by major players such as 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝘃𝗿𝗼𝗻, 𝗖𝗡𝗣𝗖, 𝗘𝘅𝘅𝗼𝗻𝗠𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹, and 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘀. This signals a significant commitment to oil and gas exploration in the region, especially considering the challenges faced in the 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻 in recent years.
Following this news, a new 𝟯𝗗 𝘀𝗲𝗶𝘀𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘆 is being licensed by Shearwater, covering 17 of the 19 newly acquired blocks and totaling an area of 48,000 km². According to the documents available, the survey activities are expected to last 640 days, starting in January 2026. The Foz do Amazonas region also includes other 3D licenses, such as the 𝗙𝗭𝗔 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗜𝗜, licensed by 𝗩𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗻, which we reported on our page a few months ago. You can check it out at this link
