Karoon has applied for a new exploration license for blocks S-M-1356 and S-M-1482 in South Santos, located right outside the Pre-Salt polygon. Both blocks are fully owned by the Australian company and were acquired last year during the 4th Cycle of Open Acreage under Concession Regime for R$12,670,000 each. The license includes plans for two exploratory wells with the possibility of an additional contingent well. According to the project’s schedule, the first well is expected to be drilled in October 2025.
Karoon currently operates three fields in Santos, Baúna (producing around 20,000 bopd), Goiá and Neon (in development) as well as three blocks: S-M-1537 (Clorita prospect), S-M-1356 and S-M-1482.
