Last Friday, January 26th, Petrobras reported the conclusion of the first well drilled on Brazil’s equatorial margin since 2015. Pitu Oeste (3-BRSA-1389-RNS) aims to gather additional geological information to evaluate the economic viability and extent of the oil discovery in Pitu (1-BRSA-1205-RNS), drilled in 2013.
The company notified the presence of hydrocarbons but said further analysis is needed to determine the economic feasibility of the area. A second well located 25 kilometers north, Anhangá, is scheduled to be drilled in February.
