After given the green light for the first deepwater well on the Equatorial Margin since 2015, drillship ODN II is already on-site to drill Pitu Oeste, located 52 kilometers off the coast in block POT-M-853. The same license also includes another well, identified as Anhangá, located further north on block POT-M-762.
Petrobras currently aims to gather additional geological information to evaluate the economic viability and extent of the oil discovery at a depth of 4,000 meters in Pitu (1-BRSA-1205-RNS), drilled in 2013. Apart from Offshore Potiguar, the company is also keen to drill on Foz do Amazonas and hopes to get the environmental license sometime next year.
