Petronas Granted Drilling License for First Well in Brazil

The Malaysian company should drill their first well, MOLA-1, located on block C-M-661 with the help of drillship Valaris Renaissance, which is currently with TotalEnergies over Ubaia-1 well at a nearby block. This license also covers multiple contingent wells and drill stem tests depending on results.

This area has seen some drilling activity in recent months on blocks C-M-541 (consortium by TotalEnergies, QatarEnergy and Petronas) and C-M-659 (consortium by Shell, Chevron and QatarEnergy), very close to Jaspe, recently included as a potential Open Acreage block.

According to the original license request, the wells’ precise locations are still subjected to changes. Our geoscience team has selected some legacy seismic lines, shown below, in order to illustrate the potential targets in the area.
