Drilling vessel Ocean Courage arrived in the area a couple of days ago and has already started the drilling of the wildcat 1-BRSA-1382D-RJS, on a water depth of 2223 meters. The block was acquired in the 4th Production Sharing Bid Round (2018) for BRL 3.15 billion, with a profit oil percentage of 49.95%. The winner consortium was Petrobras (operator – 30%), Shell (40%), and Chevron (30%).
Três Marias sits close to Búzios (one of the biggest fields in the country) and is adjacent to Jupiter (BM-S-24), another exploratory block which presents a challenge regarding managing the CO2 contained in the reservoir. If exploration results are positive, Petrobras plans to install an FPSO to start producing in November 2028, connected to 16 wells (8 producers and 8 injectors).
