According to a new Environmental Report made available last week on the Ibama portal, ExxonMobil plans to start the Sergipe-Alagoas drilling campaign in June, with up to 11 wells depending on preliminary results. The schedule presented on the report indicates another 2 possible wells to be drilled in 2021 and 8 to be drilled between 2022 and 2024.
The company currently operates 9 blocks in the region, with partners Enauta and Murphy Oil Corporation, and has drilling licensing processes on 6 of them (SEAL-M-351, 428, 430, 501, 503, and 573).
Seadrill’s West Saturn – currently drilling the Opal prospect since January – is the chosen rig responsible for the first well, on water depths that can reach approximately 3,800 meters.
