BP Energy Requests Drilling License for Bumerangue

BP Energy has requested a new exploration license for Bumerangue (Santos Basin), approximately 353 km off the coast, at water depths of around 2400 meters. The license includes one wildcat as well as two other possible wells, currently expected to be drilled in 2025.

Bumerangue was acquired last year, in the 1st Open Acreage Cycle under Production Sharing Regime (OPP) for US$ 1.67 million in a sole bid from BP Energy. The block is located next to Tupinambá, offered in the same round as Bumerangue but received no bids. A little further east is Mogno, recently announced by ANP as one of the blocks that may be included in future the cycles of OPP.
