Control well Neon-1 (9-NEO-1-SPS) reached a final depth of 2,382 meters and found 25 meters of net oil pay at the main target (Paleocene sandstones), while the deeper, secondary target (Maastrichtian sandstones) showed no signs of hydrocarbons.

However, the results were promising enough to proceed with the drilling of a second control well, Neon-2 (9-NEO-2D-SPS). Last week, semi-sub Noble Developer was relocated to the new well site where drilling operations should begin before the end of February, according to a company release.

Current resource estimates for the Neon field stand at 1C, 2C, and 3C contingent resources of 30 MMbbl, 55 MMbbl, and 92 MMbbl, respectively. These are expected to be updated, considering the results once both control wells are concluded.
