5 out of the 13 recently acquired blocks in South Santos had drilling licenses requested by their operators. These blocks cover approx. 8,900 km², about 135 km off the coast of Santa Catarina and with a water column depth ranging from 500 to 2700 meters. In total, 11 wells are being licensed.

TotalEnergies have started the licensing process for exploratory drilling in the S-M-1711 and S-M-1815 blocks, acquired in the 3rd Cycle of Open Acreage (Concession), in 2022. The license consists of 2 wells (Caipira A and Caipira B) in each block and also allows for an extra contingent well.

The other license covers blocks S-M-1601 and S-M-1910, acquired by Shell/Ecopetrol consortium on the 3rd Cycle of Open Acreage (Concession), with 3 wells for each asset. The same license also includes 3 wells in the S-M-1719 block, 100% owned by Shell and acquired in the 17th Bidding Round.
