๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฐ๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ has applied for two seismic survey licenses in ultra-deep waters, within areas recently recognized by the ๐จ๐ป๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ก๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ ๐ฎ๐ ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐นโ๐ ๐ฒ๐ ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐น๐ณ (ECS). The campaigns aim to support geoscientific studies and assess opportunities for future oil and gas exploration. Both surveys are 2D seismic, using streamer technology with towed cables.
The first license, named “Extensรฃo Norte” (๐ก๐ผ๐ฟ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ป ๐๐ ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป), covers areas off the states of Amapรก, Parรก, Maranhรฃo, and Piauรญ, including portions above the Foz do Amazonas, Parรก-Maranhรฃo, Barreirinhas basins, as well as a small part of the Cearรก basin. The seismic lines will be oriented ๐ฆ๐ชโ๐ก๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฆ๐โ๐ก๐ช, covering an area of approximately 330,000 kmยฒ. The activity is scheduled for JanuaryโFebruary 2026.
The second license, called “Extensรฃo Sul” (๐ฆ๐ผ๐๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ป ๐๐ ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป), is located east of the offshore limits of the Pelotas Basin. The seismic lines will follow predominantly ๐ฆ๐ชโ๐ก๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฆ๐โ๐ก๐ช directions, covering an area of more than 600,000 kmยฒ. The activity is scheduled for MarchโApril 2026.
