Exploration in Aram is going full steam: Petrobras began drilling two new appraisals in the past month only, ๐ฏ-๐๐ฅ๐ฆ๐-๐ญ๐ฏ๐ต๐ต-๐ฆ๐ฃ๐ฆ (May 24th) and ๐ฏ-๐๐ฅ๐ฆ๐-๐ญ๐ฐ๐ฌ๐ฌ-๐ฆ๐ฃ๐ฆ (June 20th), with activities carried out by the Valaris DS-4 and West Auriga rigs, respectively. Earlier this year, the state-owned company had already reported positive results in the block, confirming the presence of hydrocarbons in March (๐ฐ-๐๐ฅ๐ฆ๐-๐ญ๐ฏ๐ต๐ฑ-๐ฆ๐ฃ๐ฆ) and again in early May (๐ฏ-๐๐ฅ๐ฆ๐-๐ญ๐ฏ๐ต๐ฒ๐-๐ฆ๐ฃ๐ฆ), emphasizing the potential of this block acquired in 2019.
Also in May, bp started drilling wildcat ๐ญ-๐๐ฃ-๐ญ๐ฏ-๐ฆ๐ฃ๐ฆ in the Bumerangue block, with operations conducted by the Valaris Renaissance rig. Bumerangue was acquired in the ๐ญ๐๐ ๐ข๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ป ๐๐ฐ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ด๐ฒ ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฑ๐๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ฆ๐ต๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฅ๐ผ๐๐ป๐ฑ for approximately BRL 8.9 million. The company is also in the process of licensing wells in the nearby Tupinambรก block, where at least one well is planned for 2026, according to a tentative schedule from October 2024, with two others contingent on the results of the first. Tupinambรก was acquired in the ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ข๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ป ๐๐ฐ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ด๐ฒ ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฑ๐๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ฆ๐ต๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฅ๐ผ๐๐ป๐ฑ for around BRL 7 million.
