Searcher Granted License for SW Pelotas 3D

According to documents from IBAMA, Searcher Seismic has been granted a seismic research license for a new seismic survey in SW Pelotas with an acquisition area of approximately 17,000 km². Activities are scheduled to begin in January.

Pelotas is currently gaining more interest as one of Brazil’s new frontiers and has witnessed the acquisition of 44 blocks in a recent bid round. This survey, located on the south portion of the basin, covers 14 blocks, 5 of which are owned by Chevron while the rest are operated by Petrobras with Shell and CNOOC as partners. A seismic section, courtesy of Searcher, illustrates the petroleum system elements from the basin.
