After two months of drilling, the company reported gas shows on the 15th Round block C-M-791, operated in partnership with Chevron and Petrogal. The wildcat 1-SHEL-34A-RJS (Bob-1A) is located at a water depth of 2917 meters and the environmental license allows for other two exploration wells to be drilled in the area.
This block is right next to ExxonMobil’s Opal prospect, which had oil and gas shows but doesn’t seem to be commercially viable for now, as the company made no further comments regarding appraisal wells or a potential discovery. The same goes for Titã – located a little further west – with oil shows.
Looking at the bigger picture of the region between Campos and Santos, two new wells are currently being drilled in Alto de Cabo Frio Central and Dois Irmãos. Out of the 7 wells drilled since 2019, 5 had HC reports and 2 were dry. However, none of them were presented as a significant discovery by their respective operators.
