Petrobras has signed a contract with Shearwater for the acquisition of an ocean bottom node (OBN) survey covering 2,882 km² at the Tupi field. That should include most of the asset, which has an area of approximately 1,500 km². This project is part of a huge licensed area of 17,164 km² which contains several Production Fields and Exploration Blocks.
Activities will commence in Q3 2021 and are expected to last around nine months. According to the company, the SW Diamond and another additional vessel shall be responsible for carrying out what will the most extensive OBN survey in the country up to date.
This is the second OBN contract between Shearwater and Petrobras in less than 3 months. In November 2020, the company announced an 810 km² 4D baseline survey over the Jubarte field, also to be
carried out by the vessel SW Diamond in the first half of 2021.
