According to news outlet Petróleo Hoje, Petrobras should start drilling on Voador very soon. Semi-submersible rig Atlantic Start arrived on the area approximately a month ago and has been anchored since then. The contract for such services was signed back on the beginning of 2020.
Upon a brief analysis using Geopost Energy, it is worth noticing that, even though Voador usually produces from reservoirs between 2500 and 3700 meters of depth, this rig is sitting right above a pre-salt high. That could indicate a potential pre-salt target with a considerable risk associated to the seal, as seismic data shows.
Last month, Petrobras released a teaser related to the sale of 50% of Marlim, Marlim Leste, Marlim Sul and Voador. The company has plans for a revitalization of these assets, with new wells to be drilled, the decommission of several older platforms and 2 new FPSOs.
There is also an on-going seismic acquisition in partnership with Polarcus covering more than 2,000 km² across Albacora, Marlim and Voador that should be an important part for the revitalization and identifying new pre-salt opportunities.
